West Ham defender Angelo Ogbanna is excited about the prospect of linking up with new signing Simone Zaza once more, according to the club’s official website.
The latter joined the Hammers late on in the window on an initial loan deal from Juventus, one that is expected to become a permanent one in the near future.
Upon his arrival, WHUFC.com claimed the Irons had shelled out up to €5m for the loan deal, with a further €20m coming after a certain number of games.
While the 25-year-old found playing time limited with the Old Lady, he was a hugely exciting prospect during his time with Sassuolo.
Having played with him at international level, Azzurri ace Ogbonna has waxed poetic about the new arrival at the London Stadium.
After arriving from the Italian champions himself on last year, the 28-year-old has backed his compatriot to succeed in East London.
”I am looking forward to teaming up with my Italian team-mate Simone Zaza for the first time this weekend”, he wrote on the official site.
”I know our fans will get behind him and he will relish that type of support. It will hopefully motivate him to show his best form and we all know the qualities he will bring to the side.
‘Zaza is one of the best strikers and we have an international forward coming into the squad that can help us challenge with the other teams.”
