As reported by The Star, new West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen on making a move for soon to be out-of-contract Arsenal star Jack Wilshere this summer.

What's the story?

Wilshere still hasn't signed a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, with his current contract set to expire at the end of this month, making the 26-year-old one of the hottest free agents in the Premier League this summer.

The Star report that West Ham United are now one of the teams interested in his services, with Pellegrini a big fan of the midfielder ever since his days as Manchester City boss.

The paper reckon that the Hammers will face competition from the likes of Newcastle United and Everton for his signature.

Wilshere has been reported in the past to be earning £110,000 at the Gunners currently.

Would he be a good signing?

There may be question marks around Wilshere to compete at the level Arsenal are looking for in the future, but he has more than enough quality to make an impact at the London Stadium.

Coming into his prime years as a player, the midfielder appears to have put most of injury issues behind him, making 38 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions in 2017/18.

As demonstrated by WhoScored, he has the technical ability to shine at the Hammers, with his pass completion percentage second only to  fan favourite Manuel Lanzini and his average number of dribbles per game up there with both Lanzini and Michail Antonio.

If Pellegrini can keep him fit and give him the responsibility of being West Ham's main man, there's every chance he could make Arsenal regret letting his contract situation get to this point.
