They say there are only two certainties in life: death and taxes. Jack Wilshere suffering an injury setback should be added to that list.

The West Ham United midfielder has been subjected to a barrage of bad luck in terms of injury problems throughout his senior career.

Last season it looked as though the problems were behind him but four games into his new career with the Hammers he picked up an ankle injury.

Wilshere underwent surgery to fix the problem, but it appears that his time on the sidelines has been extended.

Football.London writer Sam Inkersole revealed the news on Twitter.

Given Wilshere's injury history, this news has not come as a big surprise to West Ham's following.

With the midfielder due for a longer spell on the treatment table, it is unclear how badly this will affect the Hammers' season.

What has to be said, though, is that Manuel Pellegrini's side have been coping without Wilshere as they picked up their first wins of the campaign after he was forced out of the team.

On Twitter, some supporters have been posting their reactions to these latest reports.
