West Ham United have already recruited seven new players in this transfer window, but it seems that manager Manuel Pellegrini wants more.
The former Manchester City boss has been linked to a handful of midfielders and forwards, but he has just six days to finalise business.
One of those targets was thought to be Joao Mario, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Hammers from Inter Milan.
The midfielder made 14 appearances for the East London outfit, and received mixed reviews from the fans.
On Wednesday, The Sun reported that West Ham have been joined by Everton and Leicester City in the race for Mario’s signature.
Now, it looks as though the East London outfit will miss out entirely as a club insider has dropped some interesting information.
Reliable source ExWHUemployee has tweeted that a deal for Mario is unlikely to go ahead.
Unfortunately our approaches for Mario do not look like working and he is now unlikely to join 😔⚒

In reaction to the post, some West Ham fans are unhappy, while others have no concerns if the club are unsuccessful in landing him.
I know I’m in a minority but I’m actually not overly bothered. He finished tge season strongly but other than that, his 6 months were pretty uneventful for somebody with his price tag.

Big loss that, he’s underrated

I rate him, but he’s too lightweight , we’ve got enough flair and pace now, we need some players who will boss it and can also play

Not that bothered, not worth what they were looking for. Rather spend the money on a DM.
