Joe Allen played the full 90 minutes as Stoke City recorded a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Championship on Monday evening.
And a number of West Ham United supporters seemingly had a close eye on the performance of the central midfielder.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Allen was a transfer target for new Hammers boss David Moyes.
The 29-year-old, for the moment, remains a Stoke player, but it would be fair to say that a lot could happen before the January window closes for business.
According to WhoScored, Allen made two tackles and won three aerial duels against West Brom, although his pass success rate was down at 71%.
And some West Ham fans were critical of his performance.
Been watching the WBA v Stoke game on and off tonight, but I’ve seen enough of Joe Allen to know that he isn’t good enough for us.
He is also the complete opposite of what we need in midfield.

He loves taking ppl out and he was already on a yellow.
Stupid that and lucky to get away with it.
Not Prem standard for me

Totally agree, so we will sign him then

Joe Allen is miles off the pace, been skinned about 5 times today, if #WHUFC sign him it would be a disgrace.

Not all of the supporters share the same opinion, though, as some are seemingly open to the idea of the Welshman arriving at London Stadium.
Watching Jo Allen, he is a booking waiting to happen but personally he would become a fans favourite watching him tonight he doesn’t stop running, also being Welsh I’d love him in the team some might think backwards step, maybe but what a workhorse

He’s done well I thought

Another fan, meanwhile, has said that rather than signing Allen, the club should recall Conor Coventry and Josh Cullen from their loan spells at Lincoln City and Charlton Athletic respectively.
If Joe Allen is being considered, can we just not get back Coventry and Cullen from their loan spells? Not saying the lads are the answer, but both would be hungry to make an impression, and fight to prove themselves. Surely that’s better than signing Allen. No offence to Allen👍
