West Ham United announced on Tuesday afternoon that Joe Powell had left the club on a permanent basis to join Burton Albion. The 21-year-old came through the youth system with the Hammers but only managed one first-team appearance during his time at the club.Powell spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan with Northampton Town, contributing two goals in 10 appearances in League Two.

There has been no pathway into the first team at the London Stadium, though, and the midfielder has now joined League One side Burton.

A number of West Ham fans have been reacting to the news, and it would be fair to say that there are a lot of mixed opinions on whether it is the right call.

As shown above, a number believe that the club have made the wrong decision when it comes to allowing Powell to leave on a permanent deal.

Did he really play for us?! No West Ham fan has managed to name all of these obscure Irons signings....

However, others are seemingly of the opinion that it is the right call for the midfielder and have wished him well for the future.

Another fan, meanwhile, said he was hopeful that West Ham had included a buy-back clause in the deal but there is no information out there to suggest this is the case.

Meanwhile, West Ham are allegedly preparing a move for this goalkeeper ahead of the closing of the January transfer window.
