West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate is confident that his team can overcome Liverpool in Saturday's Premier League clash at Anfield.

The Hammers will visit Merseyside having lost just one of their last eight in the Premier League, which has moved the team into 12th position in the table.

Liverpool have won each of the last two Premier League meetings between the two teams, but West Ham were victorious at Anfield as recent as August 2015 - recording a 3-0 win.

The home side will enter the match looking to move above second-placed Manchester United in the table, but Kouyate has said that his team will draw inspiration from their supporters in order to claim a shock win at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Kouyate told West Ham's official website:

“We have a few days to work hard because we have a big, big game at Anfield and we want to go there and do something special for the fans.”

West Ham have won seven, drawn nine and lost 11 of their 27 Premier League matches this season to collect 30 points.

Despite sitting 12th, the Hammers are only four points clear of the relegation zone, which is currently occupied by West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Southampton.
