Manuel Lanzini could not inspire West Ham United to a win over Aston Villa in Monday night’s Premier League clash at Villa Park.
The Argentina international played the full 90 minutes of the top-flight affair.
And according to WhoScored, he had a 91% pass success rate – that said, just one of those was considered a key pass, leading to a shot at goal.

It was not really a match that will live too long in the memory as it ended goalless, but both teams did have opportunities to snatch all three points.
As expected, a number of West Ham fans took to social media both during and after the match to discuss the performances of a number of players.

Lanzini is one of those who has been widely discussed, and it would be fair to say that there’s a mixed reaction to his outing at Villa Park.
Whilst lots of the supporters were pleased with the South American’s display on Monday night, others were hugely critical – as shown by the tweets below:
I must have been watching a different game tonight? Nobes might have been everywhere but 80% of his passing was awful! What did Lanzini do tonight?! No final ball, not even sure he had any attempts on goal? How many defence splitting runs did he make? Maybe I’m missing something?

I said that as soon as Lanzini gets his contract he will go into hiding! So far I’ve been proved correct!

It doesn’t mean you’ve had a bad game if you ain’t had a shot on target or played a final ball. Lanzini had a decent 2nd half. Without him I don’t know who’s driving the ball forward for us through the middle.

Lanzini just cannot shoot.

Disagree on Lanzini, I thought he played well. Yarmo very poor

Thought lanzini was one of our best players . Tad too deep if anything tho I suppose

We missed a good chance to earn 3 points. In my opinion, Pellegrini made the changes wrong. Yarmalenko and Lanzini were poor, I would have put Snodgrass and Whlishere. Fabianski great intervention. He felt Antonio’s absence, this was his game
