West Ham United have had an inconsistent run of results, which has frustrated a large majority of the fanbase.

Manager Slaven Bilic has come under increasing pressure, but at the moment, he remains in charge of the East London outfit.

Many supporters had hoped that the team would kick on from dumping Tottenham Hotspur out of the Carabao Cup last week.

The Hammers came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory, but the opposite happened against Crystal Palace at the weekend, as they ended up relinquishing their lead to draw 2-2 at Selhurst Park.

Next up for the team is Liverpool, who have also had an inconsistent run in the top flight having drawn one, lost one and won the other in their last three outings.

The news that Philippe Coutinho will miss the clash is good news for West Ham, but football pundit Paul Merson thinks that Bilic's side will lose 3-1 at the London Stadium.

The former Arsenal man also laid into Michail Antonio, who lost possession near the corner flag, which led to Palace's equaliser last weekend.

Merson told Sky Sports:

"West Ham last week, seriously… Michail Antonio should be on the verge of getting a two-week fine for what he did. I honestly cannot believe what he done, it was unbelievable. I am going to go for Liverpool to win here. I just think they will have too much firepower for them defensively. So I am going to go 3-1, as how are Liverpool ever going to keep a clean sheet?!"
