In this week’s column, Gary Neville has been focusing on England’s future ‘young gems’ – he names them as Januzaj, Barkely and Morrison. Morrison in particular is somebody that Neville has had his eye on since winning the Youth Cup with Manchester United, and watched him developed into a young star. Neville talks about how he “has great balance and awareness”, but also that he “understands where players are round him”.
It is not too much to say that Neville sees qualities in the young player that likens him to legendary midfielder Paul Gascoigne, such as “his ability to beat people” . Granted, “he has a long way to go before he can get the levels anywhere near Gascoigne”. However, his ability is shown in his creative FUT stats as Nevile points they are mid 70s and an overall rating of 68.
At the end of the day, Neville feels that players such as Januzaj and Morrison are underestimated; “defenders look at them and they think they’re weak and that they can easily be pushed off the ball”, he explains, but continues saying that “these boys are a lot stronger than they look.”
