West Ham United’s four-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 1-0 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night, and while their form took a turn for the worse in the process, the same can’t be said for 2017 target Dusan Tadic.
Then Irons manager Slaven Bilic reportedly wanted to bring the Serbia international to the London Stadium last summer when he was a Southampton player, but the east London outfit eventually signed Marko Arnautovic instead with the attacker remaining at St Mary’s.
The 29-year-old did leave the south coast outfit for Ajax 12 months later though, and he has made an outstanding start to his career with the Dutch giants having scored eight goals and provided a further eight assists in 16 appearances in all competitions – including a goal and an assist in the 5-0 win against AZ Alkmaar at the weekend.
Following his fine beginning to the campaign and impressive performances in the Champions League, we decided to ask Hammers fans to vote on our poll to see whether they regretted their club not signing Tadic in 2017, but a majority 69% said they didn’t.
Given his below-par performances for Southampton over the course of the two previous seasons and with Arnaoutovic, Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson in their frontline that is no surprise, but it is difficult to ignore his stats this term which are amongst the best in European football right now.
