Former West Ham United manager David Moyes was seemingly keen to sign striker Aleksandar Mitrovic during the summer if he had stayed at the club having personally scouted the Serbian, and the club may now be regretting not listening to the Scot despite deciding not to keep him on.

The former Everton and Manchester United boss' contract at the London Stadium wasn't extended at the end of the campaign and he was replaced by Manuel Pellegrini, who strengthened his frontline with the additions of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Lucas Perez.

However, the latter has struggled to make an impact with Marko Arnautovic the undoubted first-choice centre-forward, and with Andy Carroll once again blighted with injury and Javier Hernandez fighting illness, they are very much lightweight up top.

Meanwhile, Mitrovic joined Fulham on a permanent basis from Newcastle United during the summer following a successful loan spell that saw him help the club win promotion to the Premier League, and he has hit the ground running in the top flight too with five goals in eight appearances for Slavisa Jokanovic's struggling side.

The 24-year-old has also netted four times for Serbia since the beginning of the campaign, so we decided to ask West Ham fans to vote on our poll to see whether they thought their club should have signed the striker, who potentially could have forged a successful partnership with Arnautovic.

A majority 76% said they should have, and while Moyes may not have been too popular with the London Stadium faithful at times, he certainly looks to have been right in this case.
