Revealed: Majority of West Ham United fans confident of keeping Obiang

Pedro Obiang had to play second fiddle to summer signing Jack Wilshere in the early stages of West Ham United’s season.

The new boy was picked to start the club’s first four Premier League matches, all of which they lost.

Wilshere’s contribution in the middle of the pitch alongside Mark Noble was lacklustre, but he was unable to improve his form as he suffered an ankle injury in August.

Since the Hammers’ 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Obiang has started all of the club’s league matches.

During that time, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won two, drawn one and lost one.

In the summer there were reports that Obiang might seek a move back to Italy, and recently Calciomercato claimed that Atalanta are considering a move.

With the January transfer window due to open in three months’ time, there could be some movement at West Ham.

Losing Obiang, though, would be less than ideal unless a replacement was found, but judging from the results of our poll, the majority of West Ham fans are confident that the midfielder will stay put.
