According to results from our recent poll, the overwhelming majority of West Ham fans would be in favour of a move to sign Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi – the striker was recalled from a disappointing loan spell at Valencia, with the Blues now seemingly keen to offload him this month.
The Mirror reported last week that a string of European clubs, including Everton and his former club Marseille, were battling to sign the Belgian, although Sky Sports have since reported that he is close to joining Monaco on loan.
West Ham, meanwhile, have made good use of the transfer window by signing free agent Samir Nasri on New Year’s Day – the Frenchman impressed against Arsenal in a 1-0 victory at the weekend – but could still do with some reinforcements in midfield and up front.
Marko Arnautovic is surely set to join Shanghai SIPG and Javier Hernandez is a target for Valencia, so the Hammers could soon be very short of striking options – it is understood that Chelsea would accept £14m for Batshuayi and we suggested that Manuel Pellegrini should pounce.
We asked the London Stadium faithful what they would think of a move for the 25-year-old and a whopping 92% voted that they would like to see him in claret and blue – you can check out the full results of our poll below…
