Watford’s Richarlison has hit a torrid run of form in 2018, but his performance on Monday night against Tottenham showed exactly why West Ham should sign him.

Now, if you watched Watford’s 2-0 defeat at Wembley on Monday, you probably remember him slipping as he raced through on goal in the first half before firing over from close range after the break.

However, as much as Monday night’s defeat showed everything that’s gone wrong for the Brazilian this season, it also showed exactly why he can be so dangerous.

The 20 year-old started the season strongly with five goals and four assists, and now months down the line he has not added to those stats, but that will change.

With 50 touches at Wembley on Monday, the Brazilian completed four dribbles and registered four shots.

Richarlison performance vs Tottenham

While only one of these shots forced a really good save from Hugo Lloris, the fact that the tricky winger is still making things happen despite his bad form is a good sign.

He showed earlier in the season he can finish, and the departure of Marco Silva seems to have virtually obliterated his confidence, but that’s something he can get back with a fresh start at a new club.

One thing West Ham fans have been infuriated by in recent times is their team’s lack of fight, something Richarlison certainly does not suffer from.

The Brazilian won four aerial duels against Tottenham, and averages 3.2 aerial wins per game in the league this season, remarkable numbers for a winger.

With Marko Arnautovic loving life as a central striker and Manuel Lanzini returning to fitness, the Hammers could have a terrifying front three next season if they added Richarlison this summer.

Not many players have the mentality to keep trying to make a positive impact when things aren’t going their way, and the step up to a bigger club could force the youngster to not just get back to his Watford best, but to better it.
