Swansea and West Ham in shock summer battle for PSG ace

Swansea City and West Ham United will commence an ambitious summer battle as both sides bid to land Paris Saint-Germain defender Gregory van der Wiel, according to L’Equipe (via Culture PSG).

The Dutch international right-back is out of contract in the French capital and it was recently announced he would be leaving Parc de Princes after a glittering four years there.

Serie A heavyweights Juventus and Inter Milan are thought to be monitoring his situation, though the money available to Premier League teams now could see the 27-year old move across the Channel.

He arrived from Ajax in 2012 and has won four consecutive league titles with Les Parisians, as well as a raft of domestic cup competitions.

The Hammers have struggled in that particular berth, often utilising midfielder Michail Antonio as a makeshift defender this season.

Swansea meanwhile, could cast their eyes over more continental recruits now they are firmly under the stewardship of Francesco Guidolin.
