Terry Westley has spoken glowingly about West Ham United youngster Nathan Holland on Claret & Hugh.

What did he say?

The former Academy Director also spoke about Conor Coventry and Joe Powell, who recently left for a loan to Lincoln City and permanent deal to Burton Albion respectively.

Holland is one player who Westley clearly holds in high regard, as shown by the way in which he discussed the youngster's upcoming spell at Oxford.

As part of his blog on Claret & Hugh, he said: "Nathan has been the most discussed of the three and I think the decision to loan him out is the right one. He needs regular first-team football at a league club, as he hasn’t yet managed to make a really forceful challenge on the Hammers' first-team squad.

"I fully expect him to flourish at Oxford and come back a player under consideration by David Moyes every week next season - make no mistake he is going to become a top player."

Exciting prospect

So far, Holland has made one start and one substitute appearance since going on loan to Oxford, making one dribble and one key pass in that time, while also completing 80% of his attempted passes.

Having already received game time, it is apparent that this could truly turn out to be Holland's opportunity to prove himself in senior football.

This comes with the 21-year-old already showing that he can excel in Premier League 2 after scoring 11 goals and registering six assists in 12 league games for West Ham's U23s this term.

The hope will be that the winger is able to do enough to show Moyes that he should be part of the Scotsman's squad moving forward.

If Westley is to be believed, there is every chance that Hammers fans could be seeing a lot more of the youngster next season.

Meanwhile, West Ham fans were seriously underwhelmed after the club's official announcement.
