Speaking in his first press conference since being appointed as the new West Ham United manager, David Moyes had some words of warning for some of his players. The former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland boss replaced Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday following the 4-1 defeat against Liverpool at the London Stadium on Saturday, on Tuesday with the club lying in the Premier League relegation zone following a poor start to the campaign.Speaking about his methods and what he expects of his team, Moyes told reporters: "If you step out of line, you won't play."If you don't run, you won't play. If you don't do the training and you're not fit enough, you don't play."

Considering some of the performances that the Irons faithful have viewed this term – think the loss against the Reds at the weekend and previous defeats against Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion – it is clear that some

Hammers stars will be concerned by the quotes from their new boss.

Here are three West Ham players that should be worried by Moyes' laziness comments…

Marko Arnautovic

The Austrian cost a club-record fee when he joined the Irons from Stoke City during the summer, and with that comes an added amount of pressure and the fans expect to see at least 100% effort as a result.

That doesn't appear to have been the case for the 28-year-old at times this season though and following an early red card against Southampton back in August, Arnautovic has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up and when he has featured, he hasn't appeared completely committed.

If that continues then he will find himself out of favour under Moyes too.

Andy Carroll

It would be fair to say that Carroll probably isn't the fittest West Ham player – which certainly isn't helped by his height and build – and that comes across on the pitch as he is perhaps less mobile and less able to chase the ball or opponents than some of his teammates.

While Irons fans have often criticised the 28-year-old for his laziness, he may need to work on getting trimmer, building up his stamina and working harder for the team if he wants to be a regular under Moyes.

Javier Hernandez

While you perhaps wouldn't associate a player like Hernandez with being lazy, that has been the case at times this season.

Whether it is down to the frustration of things not going the team's way or the fact that he sometimes found himself played out of position by Slaven Bilic, that work rate needs to return in the coming weeks and months under Moyes.

His lack of effort certainly hasn't gone unnoticed by pundits either, and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard criticised his showing in the 4-1 defeat against the Reds last weekend.
