It’s that time again – another international break.

Fans of club teams tend to dread it as they miss out on the buzz of supporting their team on the weekend, while nations such as England are once again struggling to entertain their group of supporters.

But, of course, the break is an opportunity for players to impress for their country, and West Ham stars are no exception.

The club has a number of players away on duty over the course of the next week, with the majority of those facing important 2018 World Cup qualifiers for their national sides.

It has been a disappointing start to the season for Slaven Bilic’s side - especially at their new London Stadium home - and they drew 1-1 against Stoke City in the capital last weekend because of a howler from Adrian, meaning their players headed into the break with little confidence.

Here, we identify THREE Irons players to look out for over the international break…

The left-back has been unfortunate to not receive a call-up to the England squad before now after some impressive performances for the Hammers, and he will look to take his chance following Danny Drinkwater’s withdrawal through injury.

The 26-year-old has two opportunities to make his bow for the Three Lions in their international friendlies – first against Scotland on Friday, and then Spain on Tuesday – although he faces stiff competition from Danny Rose and Ryan Bertrand for the spot.

Edimilson Fernandes

Another player to receive his first senior international call-up is summer signing Fernandes, who could feature for Switzerland this week as they face the Faroe Islands in Lucerne, looking to build on their 100% start to their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for the Irons so far this term, playing in a variety of positions and even scoring his first goal for the club in their EFL Cup win against London rivals Chelsea at the London Stadium.

Darren Randolph

He may not be first-choice with the Irons, but Randolph has established himself as the Republic of Ireland’s No.1, and he will be hoping that a good performance in his nation’s qualifier against Austria could put him into the forefront of Slaven Bilic’s plans.

Following Adrian’s mistake against Stoke at the weekend, the Irish stopper will be optimistic that he could be given a run in the team for his club sooner rather than later.
