It would be a huge understatement to say that West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan doesn't have the best relationship with the club's supporters, but he certainly went more than a long way to putting that right with the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as David Moyes' successor.

The 64-year-old arrives at the London Stadium just four years after winning the Premier League title with Manchester City, while he has never finished outside of the top seven during his spell managing in European football.

Irons fans are in an optimistic mood right now and they will be hoping that the board and the Chilean boss get things right together in the transfer market this summer, with the South American backed well financially to bring the players he wants to east London.

While Pellegrini, who could target these three players he has worked with before this summer, looks likely to have a major say on any incomings, he will still have to go through the owners when it comes to buying and selling players, and there are certainly moves that would anger the London Stadium faithful.

Here are three transfer deals Sullivan could sanction to go from hero to zero…

According to reports in The Mirror, Crystal Palace are keen to sign the 28-year-old winger this summer, but it certainly wouldn't be a popular transfer deal for West Ham supporters to sell to their London rivals despite his struggle with injuries and form this season.

The England international proved during the 2016/17 campaign how influential and important he can be for the east London club, and his versatility, strength, pace – something the Irons don’t have a lot of – and ability in the air should mean that he is kept at the London Stadium at all costs this summer, as he adds that something a little bit different.

With loanee Joe Hart returning to Manchester City following the end of a disappointing season-long loan spell at the London Stadium, one of Pellegrini's priorities this summer will be to bring a new goalkeeper to the club.

The 64-year-old has already been linked with a swoop for Chelsea stopper Willy Caballero, who turns 37 years of age in September.

West Ham fans wouldn't be happy if Sullivan sanctioned a deal for the Argentine though, who would not be a long-term answer and cause Adrian to be unhappy if he was the number one, while the club should be looking for a younger goalkeeper to compete with the Spaniard if they want him to be a back-up keeper.

According to Sky Sports, Pellegrini is interested in signing £16m-rated West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon this summer having worked with him at Malaga before, but Irons fans may not be happy if Sullivan pays the money for the Venezuela international.

Marko Arnautovic has already impressed in the centre-forward role and with Javier Hernandez likely to play more of a key role next season and with Andy Carroll still on the books, is there really any need for the Venezuelan.

With 28 goals in 120 appearances for the Baggies his goal record is hardly brilliant either, and the £16m may be better spent elsewhere.
