David Moyes says that Winston Reid is working on an exit from West Ham United, per Football.London.

What’s the word?

The New Zealand international has not played for the club since 2018, playing 27 minutes in a 4-1 loss to Swansea City on March 3rd.

He missed the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign and has yet to play for the club this season, though he has been on the bench three times, against Leicester City, twice, and Everton.

And Moyes has confirmed that Reid is closing in on a move to an MLS side.

He said: "Winston is still here, he is still training, still working towards possibly going to America but we have not got that confirmed yet.

"The club he was due to go to is off but I think there might be somewhere else for him.”

Call yourself a West Ham expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

Hellish time

Reid has been so supremely unlucky.

The defender sustained knee ligament damage in that game against Swansea, while he was also knocked out, and he has been on the sidelines ever since.

The Hammers, naturally, have been careful with his potential return, refusing to rush him back into action, and one has to feel that he needs to change his scenery.

A move to the United States would be exactly that and, while it is not a step up, he just needs to play football regularly.

The Premier League may well be too intense for him but MLS could be exactly the kind of league in which he can thrive.

One has to hope this move comes off.

Meanwhile, here's the XI West Ham should pick against Manchester City!
