As per Football Insider, David Moyes has rejected the chance to take Ronaldo Vieira to West Ham.

What's the story?

The Scot now has less than a week to complete his transfer business before the window closes, and several names are being linked with a move to the London Stadium.

Call yourself a West Ham expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

One of those who could have made the move was former Leeds United man Vieira. David Sullivan was said to have given the former Everton boss the chance to sign the 21-year-old, who is believed to be valued at £14m. However, Moyes did not want to take him to the Hammers.

Good choice

West Ham are keen to bring in a midfielder to provide competition for Mark Noble and Declan Rice, and Vieira was mooted as a candidate to do just that. He came through the Whites' academy before moving to Sampdoria for £6.2m in 2018.

A central midfielder, he has started 16 matches in Serie A already this term, but he has yet to set the world alight. He has picked up an average WhoScored rating of just 6.57 in the Italian top flight this time out, with 1.5 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per match. He has also managed 1.2 key passes per fixture, but has only one assist to date.

He made his debut as a 17-year-old for Leeds, and although he has shown promise - he won the club's Young Player of the Year during his time in Yorkshire - he has failed to really push on since moving to Italy.

In January, it is important to sign players who can hit the ground running, who have pedigree and should be able adapt to the higher demands of the Premier League seamlessly. Vieira has experience in England, yes, but his displays in Serie A haven't proved he'd be capable of making that step up.

Although time may be running out to get business done, that does not mean that Moyes and co need to lose their heads and be trigger-happy. Here, the 56-year-old has made the right call.

Meanwhile, signing Ryan Fraser would provide one risk for West Ham.
