West Ham ace suggests he’ll stay

17-year-old West Ham United prodigy Reece Oxford has been on a rollercoaster ride for the past year, after starring on the opening day of the Premier League season last term in a 2-0 win against Arsenal at the age of just 16.

Since then, though, Croatian boss Slaven Bilic has elected to use the teenager sparingly and, due to his limited first-team opportunities, a wealth of speculation has surrounded the player’s future – with the most high-profile story seeing the midfielder linked with a move to RB Leipzig in the summer by Sky Sports.

With Oxford yet to commit his long-term future to the Hammers with a new contract, speculation continues to persist but a cryptic tweet posted in recent days by the player suggests he’s showing maturity and patience with the situation.

James Tomkins was sold to Crystal Palace in the summer, clearing a path for Oxford into the first-team, but he’s still struggled to make an impression. Yet it’s clear that West Ham fans are desperate for him to stay on at the club, with some even tipping him as a future captain.
