It's fair to say that since Arthur Masuaku joined West Ham back in the summer of 2016 from Greek side Olympiacos, he hasn't exactly been the flavour of the month with the Hammers faithful. Indeed, after being introduced for the injured Aaron Cresswell against Arsenal a few weeks ago, the Frenchman was slammed by sections of his own fans for his inept defending.

And against Leicester on Saturday afternoon, it was essentially more of the same when it came to the 26-year-old. But this time, rather than his defending, it was his use of the ball that really let him down against the Foxes. As per Sofascore, he lost possession 22 times over the course of the game (the joint-most of any West Ham player). He had a measly 70% pass accuracy, completed none of his three attempted crosses, and provided just one accurate long ball out of the five he tried.

After seeing his performance, West Ham fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their left-back.

A couple of fans were understandably critical of the way Masuaku used the ball, with one fan taking particular aim at the way the left-back appeared to need multiple touches before trying to deliver the ball into the box.

A couple of Hammers fans even lambasted his defending, with one supporter in particular calling him a "disgrace of a defender".

In a team that has already conceded 32 goals in just 19 Premier League games, having defenders who can actually defend has perhaps never been a greater necessity for the Hammers than right now. Masuaku's desperately poor performance in Cresswell's absence was no surprise given his recent struggles, and West Ham may well be tempted to go digging in the January transfer window for a new man for that berth.

Meanwhile, West Ham fans have earmarked this man to potentially take over from Manuel Pellegrini.
