Michail Antonio has undergone surgery on a hamstring injury and is set to miss four months, per The London Evening Standard.
The winger sustained the issue during the club’s 2-0 win over Newport County in the Carabao Cup.
Antonio has been forced to go under the knife to fix the problem and The Standard now claims that he will not be in line to return until the turn of the year.
The 29-year-old, who had made three Premier League appearances for the club prior to his setback, missed four months with a similar issue in 2017/18.
Antonio’s injury history is worrying for the Hammers.
If he continues sustaining such problems, it becomes difficult to see how the attacker will continue to have an influence on the first-team.
He has only completed one of the last four seasons without collecting an injury – 18/19 – and one has to ask how long he can continue to be indulged by the Irons.
Transfermarkt estimate he has missed a whopping 364 days of Hammers action through injury, and the next four months are expected to see another 120 added to that tally.

Antonio has scored 28 goals and registered 18 assists in over 130 appearances for the club; that is not a record that demands patience.
He is unlikely to be given many more chances.
