West Ham considering Newcastle outcast

West Ham are among a pack of Premier League clubs chasing out-of-favour Newcastle attacker Hatem Ben Arfa, according to reports from London 24.

The Frenchman looks set to leave St James’ Park this summer after slipping down the pecking order under Alan Pardew.

The Magpies boss is thought to have grown frustrated with the 27-year-old’s attitude and inconsistency, and is rumoured to be keen to get him out of his squad.

This has alerted West Ham, who are building for a new era of attractive attacking football under Sam Allardyce.

The Hammers have already snapped up Mauro Zarate and Enner Valencia to boost their possibilities in the final third, and now Ben Arfa is seen as an option.

Fellow London sides QPR and Crystal Palace are also understood to be interested.

Although a talented player, the silky forward’s work-rate and off-field behaviour have been questioned throughout his career.

Recent reports also suggest that he was fined by Newcastle for returning for pre-season training overweight and unfit – although he has denied this.
