West Ham target £25m summer move for 14-goal strike star (not Batshuayi)

West Ham could make a £25m summer move for in-form Watford striker Odion Ighalo, according to reports from the Brentwood Gazette.

Although Jamie Vardy has bagged the majority of the headlines for his Premier League-leading haul of 16 goals this season, the Hornets man has been just as impressive, notching 14 times for the newly promoted Hertfordshire outfit.

That sum added to his 20 goals in Championship action last term illustrates the Nigeria international’s qualities, and reports claim that the Hammers are already eyeing a summer move for his signature.

The east London club look set for a massive off-season as they head to the Olympic Stadium, and could even be in European competition for their debut campaign at the mega ground.

Ighalo is seen as a good option to bolster Slaven Bilic’s attack, with the likes of Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll having all shown a proneness to injury over the course of the last year.

Watford, however, would not be willing to let their man leave on the cheap, with a £25m fee mooted.

West Ham are also thought to be looking at Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi.
