West Ham are lining up Racing Club striker Gustavo Bou as one of their key summer targets as Slaven Bilic looks to bolster his squad ahead of a possible European football campaign, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hammers currently sit sixth in the table ahead of tonight’s fixtures and are in the hunt for Europa League qualification, while they also just seven points off of a Champions League spot.
Argentine Bou has notched 19 goals this season for his homeland side and despite not having won a cap for his national team it is believed his club value him at £9m.
West Ham representatives have flown to South America earlier this week to discuss a possible deal and the feeling is that Bou would be keen on a move to London.
Currently on the Hammers’ books there’s Emmanuel Emenike who is on loan from the Turkish side Fenerbahce, Diafra Sakho, who has only scored once since September and Enner Valencia, who hasn’t found the net since January. Andy Carroll has shown glimpses of his former form in recent weeks, but with question marks still over his fitness it seems that Bilic may need some new faces.
