Former England midfielder Danny Murphy recently warned West Ham United that the Hammers could lose Declan Rice unless they alter their stance.
Rice will see his current deal with the London club expire at the end of next season, and it is understood that the two parties are struggling to come to an agreement.
Rice has impressed for West Ham in the early weeks of this season, but could leave in January or next summer unless a new contract is signed.
Murphy told talkSPORT that West Ham should follow Tottenham Hotspur when it comes to handing out contracts for young players impressing in the first team.
The West Ham fans have been on social media reacting to pundit Murphy’s comments, and it would be fair to say that the majority agree.
Rice was excellent against Chelsea at the weekend, and it seems a crazy situation.

The Hammers must pay the 19-year-old the going rate, and a selection of the reaction from the frustrated West Ham fans can be seen below:
👏👏👏👏👏 well said, why chuck big money at new signings without first securing what you already have? Young player of the year award should immediately mean let’s improve his contract.
