Declan Rice made his first England start on Monday as Gareth Southgate’s men thumped Montenegro 5-1 in a Euro 2020 qualifier in Podgorica.
The West Ham United midfielder declared his international allegiance to the Three Lions earlier this year ahead of the Republic of Ireland, and made his debut last week as a substitute as they beat the Czech Republic 5-0.
Against Montenegro, Southgate opted to pick Rice in his starting XI, rewarding a fine season for the Hammers youngster.
The 20-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Irons thus far this term, emerging as a key member of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad at the London Stadium.
He scored his first goal in the 1-0 win over Arsenal and also turned in a heroic display against Liverpool in a 1-1 draw with the title-chasers.
Per WhoScored, Rice, who has also won three caps for Ireland in friendly matches, enjoyed a pass success rate of 96% from 71 total passes, won seven tackles and also made two interceptions.

Rice has been absolutely fantastic in midfield today. As the commentator said, the best way to describe it is “quietly effective”.
Hudson-Odoi also another standout performer, a great show from both youngsters.#MNEENG
