West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has a big decision to make regarding strikers ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace this weekend.
Marko Arnautovic is nearly back to full fitness after sustaining a foot injury against Wolves, with Javier Hernandez playing up front in his absence against Liverpool.
The Mexico international has scored four goals this season and enjoyed a sterling display against the Reds, as the Irons held the title-chasers to a creditable 1-1 draw.
Pl>ymaker FC’s Matchday with Max caught up with Jamaica’s women’s team. See what happened when he met the history makers in the video below…
Arnautovic, though, has been in fine form this season too, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in the Premier League.
However, a flirtation with a move to the Chinese Super League in the January transfer window has seen the Austrian’s reputation diminish among the eyes of some Irons fans.
And they have now debated whether or not he should be restored to the starting XI when the Hammers face Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, with many backing the idea of keeping the Mexican in the team.
No. I wouldn’t ever trust Marko again. We’ve won enough games without him to start Chica who should get the nod after staying quiet all window & working hard against L’pool.
Let Marko be an impact sub & see how much of his “performance related” pay rise he can get from the bench

I’d start Hernandez over Arnautovic. Not that I think he’s better but that Arnautovic has to earn his place in the side back.

@ExWHUemployee @davewalkersdcc not sure I agree 100% with the statement “Marko is the better player”. Both he and Chich can be world class on their day. But both can drag an entire squad down with a poor attitude — Marko especially. I say pick the in-form man, and atm that’s 17.

Best game chich had in a West Ham shirt for a while, also best work rate I’ve think I’ve ever seen from him. Don’t think he deserves to be dropped

We Play better football without Arnie!!! the biggest miss right now is probably Nasri/Lanzini, we lack some creativity in the midfield & getting One or both these player back within the team is a bonus.

I did put a tweet out earlier in the week saying if Arnoutavic is fit he starts but on thinking about it he needs to earn his place so we go same 11 v Palace

Unless Marko is fit and his head is right, I’d stick with Chich. I thought he got through a lot of work the other night.

Chich. Got to prove no player is bigger than the team. Let Arny play his way back in from the bench.
