West Ham hosted their annual player awards on Wednesday night, and fans are using the event to bash the signing of Jordan Hugill.

There’s been some pretty strange transfer moves at West Ham down the years, but David Moyes’ January move for Jordan Hugill has to be right up there.

With seasoned international goalscorer Javier Hernandez yearning for more minutes, the Hammers instead opted to solve their goalscoring woes in the transfer market.

Hugill arrived in January, having scored eight goals in the Championship for Preston this season.

Despite some good form while grabbing those eight goals though, the 25 year-old’s record with Preston isn’t exactly impressive, mustering 23 league goals in four years at the club.

The ex-Preston man has played just 22 minutes for the Hammers since the move, and fans were mercilessly mocking the striker during the player awards announcements.

The announcement of Marko Arnautovic as player of the year was met with tens of sarcastic tweets asking why Hugill had not won the award, and some of the best Twitter reactions can be found below…
