West Ham United secured a rare and well-earned victory over Arsenal by a 1-0 scoreline at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Hammers were the superior side in every department and Manuel Pellegrini deserves a great deal of credit for getting his team tactics and setup so spot on. The likes of Felipe Anderson, Mark Noble and Issa Diop all also turned in fine performances.

However, the standout display came from 19-year-old Declan Rice. The defensive midfielder was solid throughout and was a constant thorn in the side of the Gunners’ attacking contingent. He also contributed well in an attacking sense, demonstrating some flashes of creativity and possessing the confidence to run with the ball at his opponents.
Early in the second half, ex-Arsenal playmaker Samir Nasri gave the ball to Rice in the visitors’ penalty area. The Hammers’ youngster lashed the ball first time into the top corner to open his account for the club and ultimately win West Ham all three points.
Pellegrini has shown a lot of faith in Rice this season, and is clearly a big fan of the midfielder’s game. Rice repaid his manager on Saturday.
After the game, plenty of Irons fans took to Twitter to praise Rice on his magnificent outing…
Declan Rice: phenomenal.
Mark Noble: phenomenal.
The whole squad played brilliantly, after the first twenty mins the defence looked really assured. Nasri was also impressive, exciting times. #COYI
