West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has been a big part of the club’s pre-season so far, and Irons fans have been quick to debate what the future holds for him under Manuel Pellegrini.
The Scotland international’s future at the London Stadium certainly looked to be in doubt after he was sent out on a season-long loan deal to Aston Villa last summer after just a few months with the Hammers in which he failed to make much of an impression.
However, the 30-year-old impressed for the Midlands outfit with eight goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances, and he has been a big part of their pre-season fixtures so far – including against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
These West Ham supporters, who are also split on the potential of a former 6ft 3in star returning after he was released, have taken to social media to give their thoughts on Snodgrass given that Pellegrini has already signed Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson in wide areas, and while one said “he’ll be like a new signing”, another described him as an “awful footballer”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
West Ham fans hate on Robert Snodgrass far too much.
He hasn't even done anything wrong since being with us, and I hope he actually gets a chance this season. If used correctly, he'll be important.

Awful footballer. It’s one thing being out of position, it’s another not being able to shoot, dribble, pass, head the ball or even speak English ?? the guy is dog white hence the lack of club’s willing to take him off us.

People quickly forget his form for hull before joining us, bit of confidence and he’ll be like a new signing

His best position for past 2-3 years is in the centre which we haven’t seen in a West Ham shirt. He deserves a chance and like you say done nothing wrong!

Don’t hate him just don’t rate him as a footballer, lacks pace and the necessary talent to be anything other than a player fighting relegation in the Premier League or playing in the Championship.

I trust in whatever Pellegrini decides. If he thinks he’s good enough then we will have to wait and see how he performs. Could be a dark horse for us

Snodgrass Too slow for the premiership where pace can be So crucial on the flanks. Didn’t play well in any game he played for us and I would be surprised if that could change under Pellegrini

Technically much better than Antonio, I agree with you.
