West Ham United are expected to be active this summer as the club look to avoid a repeat of this season, which saw them dragged into a relegation battle in the Premier League.
The Hammers are now safe from the drop, but the board will surely want to push forward next season, and investment is needed following a dry January transfer window.
It is understood that Javier Hernandez will leave the club at the end of the season, whilst the future of Andy Carroll is believed to be far from clear.
A selection of West Ham fans, however, do not believe that signing a new striker should be the club’s priority in this summer’s transfer window.
That said, one supporter pointed out that it would be foolish for the team to once again rely on Marko Arnautovic to score the majority of the goals during the 2017-18 campaign.
Jordan Hugill has hardly kicked a ball for the club since arriving from Preston North End at the start of 2018, but he will hope to push on next season.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
Signing a striker should be our last priority this summer. We score goals.

I agree…if a boat is taking on water you do not solve it by buying more oars.

We need players for all positions, if not to replace what we have then as back up. Would concentrate on a Striker, Winger and a couple of defenders one being central and the other a left or right back.

Absolutely. Young, English, Good in the air & reasonably quick. Would go to £25m. Might even get that for Cresswell and that’s the left CB sorted.

Arnie Carroll Antonio and Hugill is a fine strike force in my opinion. Would also look to bring in a striker on loan
