He played an integral part in getting his country to the final as the creative outlet in midfield, scoring twice and assisting once in five games.

Spain demolished France in the semi-finals 4-1 before seeing off Germany in the final 2-1 to win a fifth European Under 21 Championship, reminding everyone that they have yet another generation of incredibly talented players coming through.

Now the former Villarreal man will link up with his new teammates over the summer as the flagship signing for a Manuel Pellegrini side which is exciting many Irons supporters.
