West Ham fans fume at Yarmolenko criticism

Loads of West Ham fans have been reacting to some comments on Andriy Yarmolenko, as former Ukraine international Hennadiy Orbu branded the transfer to West Ham as a huge mistake.

There’s no way around it, it’s been an absolutely awful start to the season for Manuel Pellegrini and West Ham.

The trips to Liverpool and Arsenal perhaps went as expected, but the Hammers will certainly feel aggrieved to have lost home games against Bournemouth and Wolves.

What is most disappointing is the performances of the new signings, as not one of the massive summer influx has really hit the ground running.

Issa Diop has shown glimpses of huge potential and Felipe Anderson looks to have real quality, but one player who has barely made any impact is Yarmolenko.

The Ukranian winger has come off the bench in all four league matches, and is already taking criticism from back home.

“It is unlikely that Yarmolenko will be able to make a bright career in the UK. He does not even reach the level of West Ham,” Orbu said.

“The Londoners should be sorry that they paid Dortmund as much as €20m.”

Orbu only made 17 appearances for Ukraine, so lashing out at a player who has 35 goals in 77 caps does seem quite bizarre.
