On Wednesday, club insider ExWHUemployee said that West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang was in Italy ahead of a move to Sassuolo.

The 27-year-old has made 116 appearances for the Hammers since arriving from Sampdoria in the summer of 2015.

West Ham later confirmed that the midfielder has officially departed, posting a good luck message on both their official website and Twitter account.

The club insider also said that Obiang has wanted to leave West Ham for the last 18 months, but did not 'make a fuss' when he was told that would not be possible.

The London club's fans have been on social media reacting to the Twitter post.

And the majority have lavished praise on Obiang for his conduct.

The midfielder actually made 29 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's side last term, but was seemingly surplus to requirements moving forward.

And if the reaction on social media is anything to go by, Obiang leaves with a solid reputation in tact.
