West Ham United had a positive transfer window, bringing in nine new signings following the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as manager.

The Chilean coach, who won the Premier League title while in charge of Manchester City, has strengthened every area of the pitch.

Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Ryan Fredericks have joined the Hammers to boost the defence, while Lukasz Fabianski will fight for the number one goalkeeper spot.

In the midfield, Jack Wilshere signed from Arsenal on a free transfer, while Carlos Sanchez has been recruited to protect the centre third.

Wingers Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko will provide service in attack, with Lucas Perez hoping to make an impact up top.

There is a danger of the team not gelling when too many players are signed in one window, but one of West Ham's rivals will certainly not have that problem.

Tottenham Hotspur finished third in the Premier League table last season, but in order to boost their title chances they required some fresh faces.

Unfortunately for manager Mauricio Pochettino it was not to be, and the club failed to sign a single player.

As a London rival, some West Ham fans could not help but mock on social media.
