West Ham held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at the London Stadium on Sunday, but they could have taken all three points had Andriy Yarmolenko converted a gilt-edged chance in the second half.

The Hammers were without star man Marko Arnautovic, as the Austrian striker failed a late fitness test having limped off in the 3-1 win against Everton the weekend before. That win at Goodison Park now seems to be a turning point in the Hammers season.

Previously, Manuel Pellegrini's new side had lost their first four games of the season, but now sit in 17th place above the relegation zone.

Yarmolenko header against Chelsea

Against Chelsea, the Hammers defended valiantly and played on the counter-attack to great effect. Midfielder Robert Snodgrass was introduced with around 15 minutes to go and he put a brilliant cross on a plate for new signing Yarmolenko, who directed his free header past the post from around eight yards out.
