[ad_pod ]West Ham United fans on Twitter are gutted after academy coach Jack Collison confirmed on the social media platform that he's stepping down from his role at the club.

The 30-year-old was a fan favourite as a player for the club, progressing through the academy in 2008 to go on to make 121 appearances in Claret & Blue.

However, injuries hampered his playing career and he was forced to retire from the game aged just 27, later taking a job in the Hammers academy working with the under-16 team.

In two years at Chadwell Heath, he was able to work his way up, eventually co-managing the under-18s alongside Mark Phillips and most recently enjoying a fantastic 2018/2019 season.

Many in the Claret & Blue Army were upset by Collison's decision to leave with one questioning what the former midfielder is doing, multiple others simply Tweeting "No", and another writing how it was "such a shame."
