One of West Ham’s most consistent performances over the last two and a half seasons, Manuel Lanzini is often the sole creative force in a team who often lack in creativity.
The Argentinian, who is valued at £16.2 million by Transfermarkt, has again proved why he is one of the most important players in the Hammers squad, with a number of terrific performances in an otherwise mediocre season in East London.
Now, according to Claret & Hugh, the 26-year-old is going to be offered a new contract in the summer that will extend his time at the London Stadium.
Last summer, West Ham desperately tried to tie the midfielder down to a new long-term contract, with reports emerging that Liverpool saw Lanzini as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
However, this contract failed to materialise and the Hammers will now offer fresh terms to a player who may well be the subject of interest next summer, especially if he manages to make an impact for his national side during the World Cup.
Upon hearing the news that their club were keen to offer Lanzini a new deal, West Ham fans took to Twitter and were not too optimistic about their chances…
And why would he sign for a club with no ambition other to sign loaners, championship players, or players past their prime! No I think he will be heading for Spain!
