Former West Ham United target Wissam Ben Yedder, scored twice for Sevilla as they knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, and Irons fans have been quick to react.
Ben Yedder was linked with a move to the east London outfit in the summer of 2016, but reliable insider @ExWHUemployee revealed at the time that his 5ft 7in frame meant that he wasn’t what the club were looking for as he was considered too little and too weak for the Premier League.
However, the forward, who has been touted as a player who would work well under David Moyes, netted a brace for his current club after coming on as a substitute against Jose Mourinho’s men on Tuesday, and he has 19 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit this term, including eight in seven outings in Europe’s elite club competition.
West Ham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the 27-year-old’s latest display, and while one described missing out on signing the attacker as “one of the biggest mistakes West Ham have ever made”, another simply summed it up as “the West Ham way”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Ben Yedder was too small and not built for the Premier League though🙄🙄🙄

Quick reminder that David Sullivan didn’t want Ben Yedder at West Ham for €9m because he’s “too small” 👍🏻

Make that 2 for Ben Yedder!
Free agent who we could’ve signed, but yet again, terrible judgement on transfers from all involved at West Ham!
Those quick and powerful little strikers never work in the Prem…
