West Ham fans react as former target Gerard Deulofeu shines in Watford win

Former reported West Ham United target Gerard Deulofeu shone for Watford in their 4-1 win against the Premier League holders Chelsea at Vicarage Road on Monday night, and Irons fans were quick to have their say on his performance.

Spanish media outlet El Gol Digital reported on January 21 that the east London outfit were keen to bring the 23-year-old winger back to England from Barcelona, but no move materialised and the former Everton man instead joined the Hornets on loan until the end of the season.

The attacker won the penalty that saw the hosts take the lead in the first-half, before his fine solo effort – which deflected in off Blues defender Gary Cahill – saw Watford get their third goal of the night two minutes from time to ensure they were to get the three points.

West Ham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Deulofeu’s display, and while one said “another one we surely could’ve signed”, another simply questioned “why did we not sign Deulofeu?”
