It has been a frustrating year for Jose Fonte since his move from Southampton to West Ham. A number of niggling injuries combined with a managerial change have lead to the 33-year-old making just 24 appearances for the Hammers so far.

And now, it seems that his career in the Premier League may be over. According to The Daily Record, Fonte is set to sign for Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifan and will fly to Asia next week to finalise the move.

Last summer, after his first six months with the Hammers, Fonte, who is valued at £4.5 million by Transfermarkt, was publicly slated by Hammers co-owner David Sullivan, who wanted to distance himself from the clubs poor recruitment in recent years;

"I’m not involved in the strategy. The manager says he wants Fonte from Southampton and Snodgrass from Hull. My kids begged me not to sign them."

Upon hearing the news that Fonte was set to leave the club, West Ham fans took to Twitter and were decidedly disappointed...
