In his press conference on Thursday afternoon, West Ham manager David Moyes announced that transfer target Joao Mario was in the process of completing a medical ahead of signing a loan deal with the club.
The Portuguese midfielder will be moving to the London Stadium from Inter Milan, a club who paid over £35million to acquire his services in the summer of 2016.
Just four days ago, Moyes told the media that Mario would not be joining the Hammers, who are looking to strengthen their squad after injuries have depleted available numbers.
However, the tide has taken a dramatic turn and the Hammers are now set to land the 25-year-old, who is a regular feature in the Portuguese national team.
Upon hearing the news that Mario, who is valued at £23.4million by Transfermarkt, is close to completing a move to their club, West Ham fans took to Twitter to express their delight…
Joao Mario is such a good signing. He’s literally perfect to what we need. Creative CM who will bring us composure and help us retain the ball. Kouyate and Obiang are SO wasteful with the ball. Mario will bring us that calmness and ability to pick a pass when nothing seems on.

Joao Mario is 100% the type of player we need. Drives forward from midfield and we only have Lanzini who does that. Well done Sir David Moyes
