West Ham United’s progress under Manuel Pellegrini has been tangible in a handful of their most exceptional performances this season.
But in the aftermath of a bitterly disappointing defeat against Cardiff City it was difficult for some supporters to remain upbeat.
A summer spending spree and the arrival of the Chilean promised to stimulate change in east London last summer.
Pellegrini’s prestige in football management hinted that the club were moving in the right direction, and the fact they are not facing the prospect of a relegation battle in the final eight fixtures suggests that improvements have been made.
However, the revelation of a table on Twitter has provided the most tangible evidence of improvement yet.
The table compares how Premier League clubs have performed after 30 games this season with their return at the same stage last season, and the Hammers stand out as the most improved club.
Thanks to those that have tweeted me this. It shows the comparisons with last years premier league performance. You can see a vast improvement. pic.twitter.com/oZ8bdi7cYm

Plenty of fans acknowledged the improvement in results and the overall quality of football on display in response to the tweet, while one fan emphasised the importance of the upcoming transfer window and cited the size of the challenge director of football Mario Hussilos could be set to face.
Here’s what the Irons on Twitter had to say in response to the statistical revelation:
Most improved team ⚒

And this has been without Lanzini for most of the season, a new manager with new ideas and a new centre back pairing and Arnautovic disrupting the team in January with his antics. What more do some fans want from this season ?

Considering the injuries, new manager and coaching set up, bedding in 10 new signings and the poor start this confirms what most of us have seen this season, that we are much improved.

So we’re the most improved team in the prem as things stand. Happy days. ⚒

So we’re the most improved team in the Prem. Definitely progress has been made, but the clinical inconsistency is so frustrating. But, I still trust in Pellegrini. However this is a Big summer. Potentially 4 strikers will need replacing with minimal funds. Hussilos vital.

Most improved Premier league team. Love stats like this, goes unnoticed.

And although we are frustratingly inconsistent the football is generally much better and the injuries even worse than last year
