West Ham fans react as they are linked with £15m Patrick Roberts move

According to reports in The Sun, West Ham United are ready to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Leicester City and offer £15m to sign Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts in the summer, and Irons fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The Sun says that the 21-year-old was on both clubs’ radars during the January transfer window, with the Foxes wanting the attacker as part of any deal that would have taken Riyad Mahrez to the Etihad.

However, West Ham are ready to firm up their interest in the England U20 international, who has scored 18 goals and provided 24 assists in 72 appearances during a two-and-a-half year loan spell with Celtic that expires at the end of the season, in the summer.

West Ham supporters took to social media to have their say on the story, and they were understandably pessimistic given the club’s history with transfer dealings.

While one said “probably won’t happen”, another simply asked “what could go wrong?”

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
