According to club insider ExWHUEmployee, West Ham United have held talks with Manchester United regarding the future of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Johnstone has been with Man United since 2009, but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils, with the majority of his career spent out on loan.

The stopper impressed for Aston Villa last term, and had been tipped to make a permanent move to Villa Park if Steve Bruce's side secured Premier League promotion.

Villa fell short at the final hurdle, however, and can no longer afford to sign Johnstone.

The 25-year-old will be returning to Man United for pre-season training as things stand, but according to ExWHUEmployee, West Ham have discussed a possible deal with the Red Devils.

Adrian's long-term future with the Hammers has been called into question following an inconsistent 2017-18 campaign, whilst Joe Hart has already left the club to return to Manchester City.
