A number of West Ham United fans have been discussing the future of Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez after the striker saw his Uruguay team crash out of the Copa America in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Gomez did not actually play a single minute for Uruguay at the Copa America.

Indeed, he did not feature in any of their three group games against Ecuador, Japan and Chile, and he was also not included in the quarter-final clash with Peru.

Uruguay's exit means that things could well start moving forward in regards to Gomez's future, though, with the 22-year-old a summer transfer target for West Ham.

It remains to be seen whether the Hammers are able to secure a deal for the striker in this summer's transfer window.
